Countless years before Kallai was born, his people--the dragons--mixed freely with the other species of their home world. However, the transpiring of certain events led the dragons to decide to go into hiding in order to protect themselves. With the passage of time, dragons became nothing more than myth for most of the others that dwell upon their native planet. Still, they kept hidden. It was better to be safe than sorry.
There are many different race of dragons, and each dwell within a different region of their territory. Being born a fire dragon, Kallai was raised amongst them within the rainforest they liked to call home. In spite the amount of rainfall, it was an extremely hot place that many without the fire within their veins found unbearable.
Kallai was an orphan. The only information he had regarding his parents were what race of dragon they were. His father was a fire dragon like Kallai while his mother belonged to the nature dragons. He came to believe his parents abandon him over the idea that they were unable to visit him for some reason--either because of death or some other reason. This--on top of his belief that he was only being trained out of obligation for the species survival rather than any obligation to him--made him even more difficult to teach to control his powers than many of the others of his race.
Fire dragons naturally had a harder time controlling their powers than the other races. It was something they had to put more thought and effort into, and in some ways his resistance to the training had more to do with his belief that he shouldn't have to conform to their ideas on how he should behave than anything else. Whatever the case, all those that took it upon themselves to teach him eventually gave up on him, and eventually they stopped trying all together. This made him even more angry. He felt like they were abandoning him just like his parents had.
One day he decided to leave his people behind to explore the world that laid behind their territories. It was something that countless other dragons had done in the past, and some even considered it a rite of passage. However, he knew if he asked to be able to see the outside world that his request would be denied. They would fear that due to his lack of control that he would reveal their secrets to the outside world and thus make them aware that dragons were indeed real. So, he didn't ask. He left in the middle of the night with no intention of returning ever again.
He explored his home world for awhile making friends amongst the many species that call the planet home, but he eventually found his way upon another planet and from there another and another until he lost count. He never stay in a single place for long. Through, some places longer than others. Kallai loved every moment of it. There was something about not knowing what each day will bring that made him feel more alive than he ever had before.
Present
He has found his way upon the planet Hellifyno, and has discovered others of his people here. They are not of the same clan as him, but family as well. One is his cousin while the other is his half-sister. He is uncertain what to think about this. A part of him is overjoyed. He had always wanted to meet his family. But, there is another part--a bigger part--that is afraid they will abandon him like a lost cause like everyone else.
They are not the only ones that he met native to his home world. The other is a red haired witch, whom he feel drawn towards. He isn't a stranger to being drawn towards someone. It is within his nature as a fire dragon. He is a being of passion. In fact, his very presence has a way of invoking the lust that dwells within another being's heart--whether it be sexual or otherwise. It is a passive power of his--something he can never turn off, even if he wish. However, his feelings for this witch is very different than what he had felt for his other lovers. He wants her in ways he had never wanted them, even if he never admits it.
It soon became clear that Kallai could not deny his feelings for his witch even if he had tried. The two of them have grown extremely close and as a result of this bond they share they had a son. Kallai loves his son a great deal and while he is nervous about this new role of being father he vows to be the best father he can be, and to make sure his son never feels as he did growing up. It has, also, come to his attention that he is that he is meant to be the leader of the fire dragons. A role he knows deep down is his, but he isn't yet ready to admit it.
